What's for Lunch? How About Love?

Best Time to Meet

So you've grown tired of the same old singles scene, spending hours at the clubs searching for that one intelligent voice attached to a body that doesn't douse your sexual sizzle. So you think about using a dating service but the thought of having to spend an evening with Mr. or Ms. Wrong turns your stomach.

A dating service in London offers an alternative, and there are other services in the U.S. that do the same. Matching potential mates by their respective job locations, first dates are arranged for the couple to meet over lunch.

Lunch dates are less pressurized than ones at night, where your entire evening hinges upon how you two get along. Decide that s/he is not for you and you have to find a way to end it early, which can sometimes be a problem -- especially if you want to let the other person down gently.

But a midday rendezvous may be more to your liking. If you realize after a few minutes that it is just never going to work, you can relax knowing that after 60 minutes you're home free. If you want to leave earlier, a simple, "It was nice meeting you but I've got to get back to work" gets you out the door, and out of the date.

What's you preference for a first meeting? Take our poll on this page and let us know.
